The Centurions originally began as a Los Angeles Rock n Roll band in the mid 60's. The group was made up of students from Salesian HS (Boyle Heights) and Garfield HS (ELA). In their existance they played with popular groups such as Thee Midniters, Cannibal & The Head Hunters, Lil Ray to name a few, performed at the Hollywood Paladium and local spots throught out Los Angeles. Members would often cruise Whittier Blvd and other local spots of the era. Like many during that time the Vietnam War and family life took priority and like that it was put to rest.
As the nephew of one of the founding members, I have brought the group back as a car club to honor a time that was classic. Our sole purpose is the cars and the music and because I can't sing a lick nor anyone else in the group. Though the group now is primarily a car club, we still take a part in the Los Angeles Rock & Roll scene, supporting LA based groups such as Omar & The Stringpoppers, Lil Gizzelle, Santos, Dusty Chance and the All Nighters. As you can see, the music and the cars live on and so for the Centurions, I welcome all friends of the Kustom Kulture and look forward to cruisin through your town.
