The much-anticipated Premier Finals clash between Centurions CC and Maple Quest CC unfolded at the iconic Maple Leaf Cricket Ground in King City on September 30, 2023. Maple Quest CC, having won the toss, opted to bat first.
Maple Quest CC’s innings commenced on a rocky note as they lost early wickets. Nauman Abdulrehman Patel, who showed promise, was dismissed by Arjun T after tallying 15 runs off 13 deliveries. Helin Patel’s departure soon followed, caught by Pathmanathan A off Pathmeswaran T, having contributed 14 runs off 12 balls.
Rajab Samir faced a tough time finding his rhythm, managing just 6 runs off a staggering 46 balls before falling victim to Pathmanathan A’s brilliant catch and bowling. Faizal Sidyot fought valiantly, accumulating 25 runs off 67 balls, but wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals.
Imran Patel and Chirag Rathod chipped in with 12 and 9 runs, respectively. Sajid Seedat played a pivotal role with an unbeaten 30 runs off 58 balls, while Ahmad Nana added 17 runs off 34 deliveries. Manpreet Singh and Patelmohamad Ali also contributed with 15 and 8 runs, respectively.
Maple Quest CC ultimately concluded their innings with a total of 161 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allocated 50 overs. Pathmanathan A stood out as the star bowler for Centurions CC, finishing with an impressive 3 wickets for a mere 15 runs off his 10 overs. Arjun T, Pathmeswaran T, Rohan G, and Divank S each claimed a wicket, contributing to the team’s strong bowling display.
In response, Centurions CC launched their innings with confidence. Aditya Manjrekar showcased his prowess with a quickfire 43 runs off 39 balls, setting the tone for the chase. However, he fell victim to Sajid S’s lbw dismissal. Divank Satwani chipped in with 7 runs before a run-out courtesy of Rajab S.
Jamison Schulz Franco and Samuel Krishen played crucial roles, contributing 14 and 22 runs, respectively. Pathmeswaran T played a vital innings, accumulating 23 runs off 22 balls before falling prey to Patel Mohamad A’s lbw.
Yet it was Pathmanathan Aran and Rahmankhan Pathan who emerged as the heroes of Centurions CC, steering the team to a memorable victory. Pathmanathan remained unbeaten with 27 runs off 37 balls, while Rahmankhan Pathan contributed an unbroken 11 runs off 16 deliveries.
Centurions CC successfully reached the target of 162 runs in the 34th over, securing a thrilling 5-wicket victory in the Premier Finals. Patel Mohamad A and Sajid S were the standout bowlers for Maple Quest CC, each claiming 2 wickets.
